  1. Select the data you want to chart, including the header row — here the range A1:C4 is highlighted.
  2. With the data still selected, click the Insert tab.
  3. Click Charts and pick a chart type — Column is the most common starting point.
  4. Excel generates the column chart from your selection — each bar is a row's Sales value.
