In Finder, click once on the file whose path you want — here Report.pdf — to select it.

  1. In Finder, click once on the file whose path you want — here Report.pdf — to select it.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) the file to open the context menu.
  3. Hold down the Option key — 'Copy' changes to 'Copy Report.pdf as Pathname'.
  4. Done — paste anywhere to get the full path, like /Users/ava/Documents/Report.pdf.
